Melancholy Accident—In the town of Scroon, N.Y. on the 14th a young man, named Adin Allard, about 17 years of age, son of Ebenezer Allard, was instantly killed by the discharge of a gun, in the hands of another young man, named Aaron Traver, son to Cornelius Traver. The circumstances were, that Allard was passing by the house of Traver, in the street, which caused a dog to bark. The night was dark. Young Traver went to the door, when he supposed he saw a dog or other large animal, about the door yard. He returned, took his gun, and again went forth, followed by a younger brother, with a light. Imagining he heard the animal in the road, he fired, and lodged 36 duckshot in Allard’s face and neck, which instantly brought him to the ground, where he expired. These facts are gathered from what was related by the family of Mr. Traver. Young Traver has been committed to gaol.
